When the organization "No Longer Empty" approached me about doing a project for a show in an empty storefront, I was interested because of the specificity of using the neighborhood as backdrop to create a haven to display authors and stories about Greenwich Village. Secondly, the specific historical location was a perfect subject matter to begin a new children's activity book about a different neighborhood besides my own.
The Book display highlighted works by authors who lived in the area, such as E.B. White and Edgar Allan Poe. Also displayed were books that have Greenwich Village as the setting for the stories, both historical non-fiction as well as fiction.
In conjunction with the exhibit, I hosted a public program for children once a week for an hour.
