Part of Summer Reading @ Woodside branch of the Queens Public Library

The project incorporated an edition of artist made book bags that folded out into a picnic blanket. The performative element was a storytelling session using books from the library, and each family could keep the bags to use after the programing. The patrons LOVED the bags and it was like Christmas getting a present that they could keep. I loved how it became a keepsake for them to remember the storytelling session. My storytelling sessions are geared toward the adults/parents/caregivers and to teach literacy skills for them to continue at home. I think I was able to convey a fun time as well as some educational component. There were several families that came back for each session.
