Thanks to both the Queens Council of Arts Social Practice Grant and the Pratt Faculty Development Fund, I was able to create a public literacy project during the summer of 2022.

The project incorporated an edition (100) of artist made book bags that unzipped and folded out into a picnic blanket. The performative element was a storytelling session using books from the library, and each participating family got to keep the bags to use after the programing. The patrons LOVED the bags and it was like Christmas getting a present that they could keep. My storytelling sessions are geared toward the adults/parents/caregivers and to teach literacy skills for them to continue at home

The five weekly events over the summer months drew over 100 families to the events.
